On May 4, 2021, members of the PlanNet Cares Foundation Executive Board visited City of Refuge, a women’s and children’s shelter located in Atlanta, GA. City of Refuge is located in the middle of one of Atlanta’s most historic and struggling neighborhoods where nearly 40% of the residents live below the Federal Poverty Level. They help women and children who are in crisis receive food, housing and emergency healthcare while teaching them new skills so they can thrive in their community. The shelter is 24 years old and houses 200 occupants per night, with over 8,000 requests for entry per year.
