Wow, while I have many goals for 2017 I would have to narrow it down to one thing and that would be for my team to have the first One-Star Director in the State of Virginia and to become a Director-maker!  Not only am I a veteran, but I also work for the Federal Government and about two years ago, I was part of the sequestration. So, now having personally experienced losing that secure Plan A, I truly realize that you must have a Plan B in place before the Plan A goes away. Since being in PlanNet Marketing, it has truly changed my life and I look forward to continued growth as a leader as I inspire and motivate others to be great leaders as well.

PLANNET MARKETING GLOBAL PRESENCE: USA, UK AND FRANCE

The United States is relatively young by world standards, being less than 250 years old. America was the first of the European colonies to separate successfully from its motherland, and it was the first nation to be established on the premise that sovereignty rests with its citizens and not with the government. In the 20th century, the United States emerged as a world power. The nation’s wealth is partly a reflection of its rich natural resources and its enormous agricultural output, but it owes more to the country’s highly developed industry. Despite its relative economic self-sufficiency in many areas, the United States is the most important single factor in world trade by virtue of the sheer size of its economy.

The United States’ physical environment ranges from the Arctic to the subtropical, from the moist rain forest to the arid desert, from the rugged mountain peak to the flat prairie. Although the total population of the United States is large by world standards, its overall population density is relatively low. The country embraces some of the world’s largest urban concentrations as well as some of the most extensive areas that are almost devoid of habitation.

Tourism in the United States is a large industry that serves millions of international and domestic tourists yearly. Tourists visit the US to see natural wonders, cities, historic landmarks, and entertainment venues. Americans seek similar attractions, as well as recreation and vacation areas. In the US, tourism is either the first, second, or third largest employer in 29 states. As of 2016, Orlando is the most visited destination in the United States. Tourists spend more money in the United States than any other country, followed by France. One hundred million tourists visited Florida in 2015, a record for the nation.

England, the predominant unit of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), occupies more than half the island of Great Britain. With over 65 million inhabitants, England is by far the most populous country of the United Kingdom. England's long and storied history and pervasive culture spread worldwide through the English language and made England a popular tourist destination. The United Kingdom is the world's eighth biggest tourist destination, with over 36 million visitors in 2015.

The country's principal tourist destinations are in London, with the Tower of London being the single most visited attraction in the country. The London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the National Portrait Gallery, and Westminster Abbey are only a few of London’s hugely popular attractions. London is a multicultural, modern hub for the arts and business.

As part of the United Kingdom, the basic political system in England is a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary system and England's economy is one of the largest in the world, with its currency being the pound sterling. The south of England is mostly low lying land with hills and agricultural land, and the north of England is mostly covered in moorland and mountains. The Channel Tunnel, opened in 1994, connects the 21-mile gap between England and France. English people consume more tea per capita than anybody else in the world (2.5 times more than the Japanese and 22 times more than the Americans or French!

Wales is part of the United Kingdom and the island of Great Britain with over 1,680 miles of coastline and is largely mountainous, with its higher peaks in the north and central areas. Over 50 islands lie off the Welsh mainland; the largest being Anglesey, in the northwest. Often referred to as "the land of song,” Wales is notable for its harpists, male choirs, and solo artists. The population is 3.168 million.

Although Wales closely shares its political and social history with the rest of Great Britain, and the vast majority of the population speaks English, the country has retained a distinct cultural identity and is officially bilingual. Over 560,000 Welsh language speakers live in Wales, and the language is spoken by a majority of the population in parts of the north and west. Cardiff is the capital and biggest city in Wales and the tenth biggest city in the UK.

Although Wales has its own traditional food, it has absorbed much of the cuisine of England and Welsh diets now owe more to the countries of India, China and the United States. Both beef and dairy cattle are raised widely, but Wales is more well known for its sheep farming and thus lamb is the meat traditionally associated with Welsh cooking. Chicken tikka masala is the country's favourite dish while hamburgers and Chinese food outsell fish and chips as a takeaway.

Scotland, the UK’s northernmost country, is a land of mountain wildernesses and northwest highlands, interspersed with glacial valleys and lakes, covering the northern third of the island of Great Britain. Scotland is comprised of more than 790 islands, including the Northern Isles. Despite the fact that Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, the biggest city is Glasgow, famed for its vibrant cultural scene, and is home to a little more than 584,000 occupants. The greater Glasgow area has a population of just about 1.2 million and is home to almost a quarter of Scotland’s 5.4 million population. Redheads! Scotland has the highest proportion of redheads in the world - 13%! The official languages are English, Gaelic and Scots.

Tourism is one of Scotland’s most lucrative assets, focusing on such attractions as golf, walking and its rich history. The game of golf was first played at the Old Course in St. Andrews in the 1400s. In industry, too, the country is pioneering and enterprising. Key business sectors include life sciences, electronic technologies, energy and financial services. Scotland also boasts a thriving export market with an impressive global reach, especially in food and drink – including Scotland’s
famous whiskey.

Northern Ireland was created in 1921, when Ireland was partitioned between Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland by an act of the British parliament.  Northern Ireland has traditionally had an industrial economy, most notably in shipbuilding, rope manufacturing and textiles, but 70% of the economy’s revenue now comes from the service sector -- the most important of which is tourism.

Key tourism attractions include the historic cities of Derry, Belfast and Armagh and the many castles in Northern Ireland. The country is known for its Norman castles, glacial valleys and mountains, Celtic and Christian monuments, and coastal links golf courses. The capital city of Belfast includes the Titanic Quarter, showcasing the redeveloped dockyards where the famous ship was built and a contemporary museum, Titanic Belfast.

Northern Ireland's population has reached a record high with the number of people now registered as 1.85 million.

France has long been a global centre of art, science, and philosophy. It hosts Europe's fourth-largest number of cultural UNESCO World Heritage Sites. France is ranked as the first tourist destination in the world, ahead of the US and China. The capital and by far the most important city of France is Paris, one of the world’s preeminent cultural and commercial centers and is known as the “City of Light.”

France, especially Paris, has some of the world's largest and renowned museums, including the Louvre, which is the most visited art museum in the world, and the Musée d'Orsay. Disneyland Paris is Europe's most popular theme park, with 15 million combined visitors to the resort's Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park in recent years. The country encompasses medieval cities, alpine villages and Mediterranean beaches. The country is renowned for its gastronomy (particularly wines and cheeses), history, culture and fashion. With more than 10 million tourists a year, the French Riviera in southeast France is the second leading tourist destination in the country with 300 days of sunshine per year,

France is one of the most geographically diverse countries in Europe. Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, the Alps and the Pyrenees, France has long provided a geographic, economic, and linguistic bridge joining northern and southern Europe. It is Europe’s most important agricultural producer and one of the world’s leading industrial powers. The current population is 66.7 million.

MEET NEW ONE-STAR DIRECTOR MELISSA COLLINS

Melissa Collins, the PlanNet’s newest One-Star Director, was born and raised in the small town of Old Monroe, Missouri. She moved to Texas 10 years ago and has never looked back. She and her husband Elvis reside in Houston, Texas. She is a mother of a blended family of 9 children and three grandchildren, and a graduate of Lone Star College with a degree in social work. Her passion is discovering new places for her family to explore and helping others to do the same for their families.

Melissa tells us, “One of my most memorable travel experiences was a cruise I took with a group of girlfriends three years ago. It was my first trip out of the country. I loved watching the sunset over the ocean and creating forever memories with my best friends!”

She attributes her success in PlanNet Marketing to always being present, whether it be a Super Saturday, a game night or a morning inspirational call. “We never know when or where we are going to learn something new that can change our attitude or perspective. Continual personal development can make all the difference in our success.”

Fun Fact: I am an active member of my husband Elvis’ drag racing team - Team Collins Racing.

“Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All the Way! Oh, what fun it is to ride, in a one-horse open sleigh!”

Hey PlanNet Marketing! It’s the thick of the holiday season and you may be jingling and jangling along, but be careful! Just like in the fun Christmas carol Jingle Bells, you could be “upsot” (upset, overturned or tipped) in just a few verses if you aren’t following the Policies and Procedures (P&Ps) you agreed to upon joining PlanNet Marketing.

Hopefully by now, you know about the PlanNet Marketing Policies and Procedures, but maybe you don’t – and you SHOULD! When you enrolled with PlanNet Marketing and created your online Rep account, you checked a box that said “I Agree” promising you’ll follow our guidelines, you’ll pay your monthly fee, and you agree to the Terms and Conditions of the marketing website sale. You also stated that you agree to follow our PlanNet Marketing Policies and Procedures – those are our rules.

It’s your responsibility to know and follow those rules! Don’t let a little slip up overturn your business. Take a few moments now and look in your Virtual Office in the Information Center under Resources and find the document entitled Policies and Procedures. It’s a little long, maybe even kinda boring – but you owe it to yourself and your business to know this stuff!

Make it a very Happy New Year by knowing and following the rules – and tune in to our PlanNetNow! Blog each week to read my Compliance Tips. Each week I highlight one section of our P&Ps and explain it (I know, I know – I’m awesome).

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Good Holidays and a VERY Joyous New Year to each and every one of you!

-- Policies and Procedures Section 1.1.F, 1.2 & 1.3, located in your Virtual Office in the Information Center (go to Resources, then Policies and Procedures).

GREAT WORK, TEAM!
LET'S ALL SHOOT FOR THE STARS!

2016 PLANNET MARKETING MVP SHEDRICK WHITE

As PlanNet Marketing’s first full calendar year comes to a triumphant close, it is only fitting that we recognize our Most Valuable Player who has helped make our success possible - PlanNet Marketing’s 2016 MVP - Four Star Director, Founder Director - SHEDRICK WHITE!

Director White has an amazing work ethic, getting up early, staying late and traveling the world to impact and empower people.  He attributes his success to a few simple principles and philosophies, which he shares here: “Find a need and meet it, find a hurt and heal it, find a problem and solve it. Through this business we have the ability to serve people. Service to many is what leads to greatness. You can have anything in this world you want by simply helping enough people get what they want. Model what you want your team to do... be a ‘do-it-first leader,’ be the example. Don't tell your team what to do, simply model and show them what to do.”

Shedrick continues, “We should be proud of what we have accomplished, but remain hungry and humble. Our best days are in front of us. Embrace the process; understand this is a marathon, not a sprint. You are one recruit away from an explosion in your business. We are a people business - treat people better than you want to be treated, be willing to work, and remember consistency is the key to your breakthrough!”

PLANNET MARKETING SPANS THE GLOBE!

There was such excitement expressed a few weeks ago over the announcement of the new PlanNet Caribbean markets and information, we thought we'd give you a look at the markets we are already in - Guadeloupe, U.S. Virgin Islands and Martinique in the Caribbean and Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and American Samoa in the Western and Southern Pacific Ocean.

Guadeloupe, a French overseas territory, is an island group in the southern Caribbean Sea. Resembling a butterfly, its two largest islands are separated by the Salée River. They are often referred to as a single island. The city of Basse-Terre is the regional capital and the official language is French.

During his second trip to the Americas in November 1493, Christopher Columbus became the first European to land on Guadeloupe, while seeking fresh water. Because Guadeloupe is a wealthy country in comparison to the surrounding Caribbean islands, immigration is popular. The economy of Guadeloupe depends on tourism, agriculture, light industry and services. 83.3% of tourists visit from metropolitan France, 10.8% coming from the rest of Europe, and 3.4% coming from the United States.  An increasingly large number of cruise ships visit the islands.

The traditional sugar cane crop is slowly being replaced by other crops, such as bananas (which now supply about 50% of export earnings), eggplant, yams, gourds, plantains, cocoa, jackfruit, pomegranate, and many varieties of flowers. The current population is 471,488.

The U.S. Virgin Islands, population 106,471, consist of the main islands of Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas, and many other surrounding minor islands. This U.S. territory is known for white sand beaches, reefs and verdant hills. St. Thomas island is home to the capital, Charlotte Amalie.

The islands were named by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage in 1493.Tourism is the primary economic activity, although there is a significant rum manufacturing sector. The islands normally host 2 million visitors a year, many of whom visit on cruise ships. Additionally, the islands frequently are a starting point for private yacht charters to the neighboring British Virgin Islands.

Christianity is the dominant religion in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Saint Thomas is home to one of the oldest Jewish communities in the Western Hemisphere as Sephardic Jews began to settle the island in the 18th century as traders and merchants. The St. Thomas Synagogue in Charlotte Amalie is the second oldest synagogue on American soil and oldest in terms of continuous usage.

Martinique, like Guadeloupe, is an overseas region of France with a population of 396,336. One of the Windward Islands, it is directly north of Saint Lucia and southeast of Puerto Rico. As part of France, Martinique is part of the European Union, and its currency is the Euro. The official language is French, and virtually the entire population also speak Antillean Creole. The inhabitants of Martinique are French citizens with full political and legal rights.

Historically, Martinique's economy relied on agriculture, but by the beginning of the 21st century this sector had dwindled considerably. Sugar production has declined, with most of the sugarcane now used for the production of rum. Banana exports are increasing, going mostly to France.

Tourism has become more important than agricultural exports as a source of foreign exchange. Roughly 16% of the total businesses on the island (some 6,000 companies) provide tourist-related services. A leading destination for European vacationers, it offers gorgeous beaches, great food and a variety of accommodations - small, medium and resort.

The Northern Mariana Islands, a commonwealth of the United States, together with Guam to the south, compose the Mariana Islands archipelago. The southern islands are limestone, with level terraces and fringing coral reefs. The northern islands are volcanic, with active volcanoes on several islands. The vast majority of the population of 53,535 resides on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. The other islands of the Northern Marianas are sparsely inhabited. Saipan is considered to be the capital because the island is governed as a single municipality.

The Marianas and the Hawaiian Islands are the world's foremost consumers, per capita, of Spam, with Guam at the top of the list. Spam was introduced to the islands by the American military as war rations during the World War II era. Tourism is very important, offering crystal clear aqua waters, world class diving and golfing, international shopping, a wide range of ethnic restaurants and a wide variety of international and indigenous cultures that add their unique flavors to this destination.

Guam, population 173,072, is an unincorporated and organized territory of the United States, located in the western Pacific Ocean. Guamanians are American citizens by birth. It is the largest and southernmost of the Mariana Islands, and the largest island in Micronesia.

The Chamorros, Guam's indigenous people, settled the island approximately 4,000 years ago. Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan was the first European to visit the island on March 6, 1521. When Magellan arrived on Guam, he was greeted by hundreds of small outrigger canoes that appeared to be flying over the water, due to their considerable speed.

A coral table reef surrounds most of Guam, and the limestone plateau provide the source for most of the island's fresh water. Steep coastal cliffs dominate the north, while the southern end of the island is mountainous, with lower hills in between. Guam's economy depends primarily on tourism, Department of Defense installations and locally owned businesses.

Lying in the western Pacific, Guam is a popular destination for Japanese tourists. Its tourist hub, Tumon, features over 20 large hotels, a duty free shopping galleria, indoor aquarium, Las Vegas–style shows and other shopping and entertainment venues. It is a relatively short flight from Asia or Australia compared to Hawaii, with hotels and seven public golf courses accommodating over a million tourists per year.

American Samoa is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the South Pacific Ocean, located halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand, and consists of five main islands and two coral atolls. The largest and most populous island is Tutuila. American Samoa is part of the entire Samoan island group called “Navigator Islands” by European explorers before the 20th century because of the Samoans’ seafaring skills.

With a population of 55,613, the total land area is slightly larger than Washington, D.C. American Samoa is the southernmost territory of the U.S. and one of two U.S. territories (with the uninhabited Jarvis Island) south of the Equator. Tuna products are the main exports, and the main trading partner is the United States. American Samoa is noted for having the highest rate of military enlistment of any U.S. state or territory. Most American Samoans are bilingual and can speak English and Samoan fluently.

American Samoa’s customs and culture are over 3,000 years old and have changed very little over this period. The most major western influence accepted into Samoan custom has been Christianity, which forms the spiritual basis of its society. Flourishing coral reefs and colorful marine life abound in the looming shadow of the famous Rainmaker Mountain.
