PlanNet Marketing is pleased to welcome Jenny and Alan Whiteside to the 20/20 Club! Jenny says, “Alan and I moved to the UK from South Africa in 2008 with three children and five suitcases. We originally came to spend three years with my husband's aging father and for us to show our children where their dad was brought up. Well, life happened and we chose to stay in the UK, which has not always been easy, especially as my family are not able to join us here. We live in a small country village outside of Preston, Lancashire called Out Rawcliffe. Our three children are aged 19, 28 and 30 years.
“I came across this opportunity when I was looking for another job. My doctor had highly recommended that I change environments as this is what was causing me ill health. To be honest, it took me all of 48 hours from the time I saw the advert to the time I was in the business! I was so excited – I had always wanted to get into travel – it is an absolute passion of mine.
“I had worked in a travel environment many years before when I managed the Australian Visas element of a travel agency in South Africa, and I looked at trying to get back into it when we arrived in the UK. This proved to be very difficult and expensive, so I stayed in the accounting and finance industry. Within a couple of weeks of starting this business, I just knew this is what I wanted to do full time, even though my hubby was not so sure (but has since been converted). People started asking me what I was doing as I had changed so much. Within the month, my husband was even saying he had his wife back. I even booked our conference tickets for this year just knowing we had to attend. I started to share the business and really understand what a life-changing impact it was having on not just me, but the family. I also realised that I had found an opportunity for me to secure a pension and to be able to leave something to our family. As I write this, I have just reached 30 personal sales and have the most incredible team and upline.
“We have travelled quite a bit over the years, having visited 26 countries, and our family has come to love travel as a result and the learning experiences that it has to offer. We love family time, socialising with friends, and travel, as you may gather. Our trip planning normally goes like this: the girls are like, ‘We want warmth and beaches’ and the guys are like, ‘Alaska and fly fishing,’ so we compromise and go to the beach where there is sun (we always win).
“This is not our first foray into network marketing; we have worked others, they had for the most part great products and more so, a great learning opportunity. In one of our previous adventures we won a dinner with the late Jim Rohn at Sun City, South Africa. What a privilege that was; his words and his life are so motivational, but motivation without action are nothing…you have to implement it and get the activity going, and then it has to become a part of you and your team’s DNA and DMO. Belief and consistency are key.
“What I have learned is that plugging into as much of the vast amount of training that is available and learning as much as you can, educating yourself, listening to your upline and leaders and getting to the meetings and the events will let your small seed of belief grow into a powerful belief that will help you through the more difficult times that you will face on occasion.
“The process that we have is a simple one; don't complicate it. Become an expert at sharing the dream one prospect at a time, then keep doing that over and over again until you become a master storyteller. As your team grows, nurture them within reason. As Mr. Bradley said, they are like children and grandchildren – sometimes you have to nurture them, sometimes you may need to discipline them, and sometimes let them be to their own devices.
“We are forever grateful for having been presented with this opportunity, and it is now our dream to be able to share it with as many people as we can.”
